Nice looking traps. I am on a mission to rid a piece of hunting property of the local coon population. During last years deer season I had 13 coons on my trail camera at one time. Farm in right next to Park property and an old dump. Area does not allow leg hold traps so cage is the only way to go. I have a couple nice cage traps but the wire is only 1/2 X1/2 inch and it is near impossible to dispatch them thru the cage. Might need an alternative cage.

Advanced are some of the best made. For the most part I use Comstock double door cages. Advanced and Comstock are competitors and the owners do not get
along in any way shape or form. But they are probably the top two cage traps made. A little pricey. But worth it in the long run.

Have either of you gentlemen ever had raccoons that ignore the cage trap?

not a lot. But we don't have high populations here and I only do a few calls a year. Have you tried a trailing scent?

I finally caught the raccoon I was after . It was a large Male who would tear my mesh , enter my backyard gazebo and dig up plants but he ignored the cage trap for some time.

I finally caught him with a DP type foot trap baited with marshmallow .

I found it interesting and annoying that he ignored the cage trap .

Didn't think they were that smart.

What size double door Comstock would you recommend. I think am going to pick up a double door for trail sets. Mostly for raccoons.

The 12x12 is the biggest I own. And they see the most use for coon. Just remember if you get the ones with the 1x1 wire on it, they can reach out and grab you lol. Nothing quite like getting groped when you aren't expecting it lol.
