Have a question for Texas trappers. I am an experienced trapper and have trapped in many different states, but never this far south. I recently moved to SW Texas. I am working for a deer ranch and they want me to trap some of the coyotes on the ranch. I had someone tell me that you shouldn't wax your traps down here. I have always used wax on my traps and thought that this guy didn't know what he was talking about, he said something about the dirt sticking to the trap. Later I thought about it, and the only thing I can think of was that the heat melts the wax and makes the dirt stick to it. So that said, do you guys wax traps down here or not? Was that guy just a newbie?

Not sure of there, but here in East Texas, you better put something on them, or they will rust away. No way would I put a bare trap out for yotes. They can smell that red rust.
